One day while at one of my former
postings, a prisoner complained of severe pains and stomach cramps. He was
taken to the local hospital where x-rays revealed that his stomach and
intestinal tract contained pieces
of steel wire. The prisoner was very reluctant at first to explain what he had
been up to. However, it soon became apparent. |

It seems that while in cells
he thought he could break his way out of jail. After twisting
off pieces of the wire mesh that formed the cell wall (instead of
the normal iron bars), he hid them the only way he could, by
swallowing them.
The doctor allowed him to pass the
wire pieces naturally. |
